So whoever buys an apartment or a villa, he will be given 4 owners cards, or privilege cards as they are better known, with name, picture and details of the owned property. There are several benefits enjoyed by the owners such as discounts in restaurants, shops, excursions, accomodations or any kind of reservation for and also access to all hotels in el Gouna. The card is renewed every year through the Customer Service Department. If extra cards are needed , they can be asked at the Customer Service at a charge.

There is a new property tax in Egypt, equal to 0,05% from the house value. This tax, implemented only once up until today, should be paid yearly to the Property Tax Office, through Orascom. As per registration, you need to calculate the lawyer fee plus the office fee at approx Euro 2,000 in one go. Whoever register his property in Egypt cannot resell it for five years. However there is a way to declare your property to the Egyptian Authority, and pay the due property tax and be free to resell your property whenever you wish to.
